My Life was Changed at Omaha Fashion Week

Hi! I’m Dallas, I’ve been with the Omaha Event Group and Omaha Fashion Week crew since 2018. I originally was welcomed to the team as an Event Manager. As the years went on I transitioned to Wedding Director to Sales Manager to Content Developer, as well as Front of House Manager for Omaha Fashion Week for several seasons. One might say that I’ve done it all with owners Nick and Brook Hudson. With my departure from the company coming at the end of 2024, I wanted to collect my thoughts and experiences of my six years with the company.

I can break my biggest take aways into two parts; career and personal.

Working for the Omaha Event Group has grown me in so many ways, After college, as is common among young entrepreneurs, I felt lost. I did not know where I would fit in in the adult world. I tried a few career options, after deciding the publishing world wasn’t for me, I applied and received an events position on a whim. I immediately fell in love. The fast paced environment and chaotic world of events felt like the perfect fit for me. A few years later I was offered an opportunity at the Omaha Event Group, little did I know how this small jump would grow me into an event management machine! I learned here that I was meant for the events industry. Pushing through a pandemic and riots in the downtown streets solidified that I could do anything with the proper support and team. The Omaha Event Group taught me so much; confidence, hard work, dedication, team work, calm in a storm, and so much more.

Once I had honed in on my expertise of events, I was invited to participate in the world of Omaha Fashion Week. I remember begin so nervous to join such a team. The idea of an all women team with gorgeous models and confident entrepreneurs was intimidating! My prior experiences with women had been the typical Hollywood mean girls view, I had been taught that women are competition or enemies.

Boy, was I wrong.

Joining the Omaha Fashion Week team was the most life changing experience I’ve had to date. In addition to furthering my event management experiences, mmy personal life was altered that day. Omaha Fashion Week is a powerful platform for celebrating women and supporting women in the fashion industry. Through its inclusive and empowering environment, this group showcases the talents of female designers, models, and stylists, offering them a space to shine and share their creativity. The event not only highlights their work but also fosters a sense of community, where women can network, collaborate, and uplift one another. By focusing on inclusivity and support, Omaha Fashion Week has cultivated an atmosphere where women are celebrated, encouraged, and given opportunities to thrive. The team, models, volunteers, and guests of Omaha Fashion Week were the most welcoming and supporting group of people I have every had the pleasure of meeting. I formed, what I hope are, life long friendships and connections with powerful, beautiful, and kind women. I am not understating when I say that I found an epiphany of what women can be in working for Omaha Fashion Week.

And let’s not forget the fun I had!

Ball pits, cotton candy machines, endless cocktails, karaoke nights with the team, opening and decorating new venues, neon signs, and trips to Vegas. I will never forget my time with this team at these amazing venues. I wish you well and I’ll see you at Fashion Week!

Love,

Dallas :)
