What made you apply for Omaha Event Group’s Dream Day Giveaway?

Kaitlin: I work in healthcare at a rehab facility and I am working one-on-one with Covid patients. I have switched to working night shift to help the nursing staff out rather than doing therapy as I am a Physical Therapist Assistant. I was at work and it was the middle of the night when it [the application] popped up. I was like, “I’m going to sign up for this. I don’t know if it’s ever going to happen. I don’t usually win things,” and then it happened.

What was your reaction to winning?

Kaitlin: I got the phone call while I was at work and I was like, “No, this isn’t happening.”

Ian: Well, it was funny. She texted me, “What do you think about getting married this coming April?” and I was like, “Are you kidding me? That’s crazy. We haven’t done anything, haven’t saved, haven’t started planning, literally nothing. Why?” Just casually, she said, “Well, I won a wedding but we can talk about it later.” She didn’t tell me it was through Omaha Event Group when she sent it to me. I thought, “Wow. We have to go ahead and take this.” It was funny. I really thought it was some online hoax until she sent me what it actually was.

Have you celebrated or told anyone?

Ian: We haven’t really celebrated yet. It’s been a whirlwind this last week. Since knowing, we’ve definitely told people as far as people we want to be in the wedding and our parents. We haven’t had a chance to slow down but we definitely will.

What does winning the Dream Day Giveaway mean to the both of you?

Ian: It’s huge. It means we can get married and have the wedding of our dreams. 2020 has been rough on a lot of people but it’s been definitely rough on us. Kaitlin works in the healthcare industry. I feel like those people, in general, are just beat down mentally and physically, so she’s been a trooper through all that. For me, it was a tough year. I was in a car accident and left my job. We’ve been looking forward to 2021 and this has been an awesome blessing and start.
